(BOP) - Throughout the holiday season, BOP staff donated money, food items and gifts to their local communities. Through "angel trees," food drives, Toys for Tots, and a variety of other programs, staff donated thousands of toys and meals for families in need.
The generosity of our staff was apparent through events that took place around the country. Here are just a few examples of these kind acts:
- The Southeast Regional Office held food drives to help those less fortunate in their community.
- FCI Otisville donated more than 250 toys to a local Toys for Tots drive.
- The staff at FCI Talladega raised money for a local charity that provides shelter and services to victims of abuse.
- FCC Lompoc staff collected clothing, bicycles and gifts for more than 50 children from a local charity serving families who need support.
- Staff at USP Atlanta assisted a local boys and girls club with "angel tree" gifts and they also provided gifts for children in need at 11 local schools.
This spirit of giving was found throughout each BOP institution. In addition to those staff who made generous donations, others volunteered their time at shelters and food kitchens. BOP staff fostered the holiday spirit within their communities and by doing so, helped numerous families and children who otherwise may not have received gifts this holiday season.
