(BOP) - During the American Correctional Association's (ACA) 148th Congress of Correction earlier this month, 23 Bureau of Prisons institutions were reaccredited. In order to receive reaccreditation, the Warden (or Agency designee) participates in a hearing held by the Commission on Accreditation for Corrections. A panel of three Commissioners discuss issues and raise questions relative to all aspects of the institutions operations before rendering their decision. The panel also seeks to address the quality of life in the facility, patterns of non-compliance, or any other conditions relating to life, health, and the safety of residents and staff.
The Wardens in attendance, and the Agency representative from the External Auditing Branch of the Program Review Division, effectively responded to the panel's questions and presented relevant information for their consideration and review. The 23 institutions receiving reaccreditation are:
