"Then and Now" describes the ongoing accomplishments of the agency.

BOP: New Bureau of Prisons Publication Unveiled

(BOP) - The Bureau has a new publication, titled "Then and Now," that highlights the outstanding work we do to maintain safe and secure prisons and prepare inmates for a productive and crime-free return to the community.

“Then and Now” includes a brief message from the Director, demographic information about staff and inmates, and several staff profiles. The publication features a timeline of significant events throughout the agency's rich history, including President Obama's historic visit to FCI El Reno this past July.

The publication will be updated periodically and made available to stakeholders, community leaders, Members of Congress and the news media. You can read "Then and Now" below or in the Publications page in the Resources area.

Copies of the printed publication for stakeholders will soon be available at the Bureau's 122 institutions nationwide, six Regional Offices, and Central Office.
