"Open House" Highlights Reentry Mission

Reentry Services Division holds event in Central Office

(BOP) – The Reentry Services Division of the Bureau of Prisons held an "Open House" in Washington, DC during National Reentry Week. The event showcased the numerous reentry services the Bureau of Prisons provides to inmates. Central Office staff explored booths and exhibits presented by Bureau staff from Chaplaincy Services, Female Offender Branch, National Reentry Affairs, Psychology Services and Residential Reentry Management. The Industries, Education, and Vocational Training Division, Health Services Division, and the National Institute of Corrections also organized booths and shared information to highlight their contributions to the Bureau's reentry mission.

Two former inmates, Ms. Hanna Teklu and Mr. Paul Seau were invited to speak at the "Together We Succeed" themed event. They shared details of their journey to become successful, law-abiding citizens. Ms. Teklu is employed by a job training program for women in need of a second chance that is centered around a baking business. She is helping other women learn about food production, safety and distribution; customer service; and personal development. Mr. Seau is a successful personal trainer after earning his National Federation of Professional Trainers certification in federal prison.
