(BOP) - Attorney General Loretta Lynch made opening remarks at the Bureau’s Annual Director's Awards Ceremony and Central Office Staff Recall held September 15, in Washington, DC. “I want you to know how grateful I am for your service and for your commitment to the Department of Justice – and how proud I am of your accomplishments,” Attorney General Lynch told attendees.
During the ceremony, more than 40 Bureau staff from around the country were recognized for their work during the past year. In addition, nearly 100 staff members received recognition for 25 or more years of Bureau of Prisons service.
Both Acting Director Thomas R. Kane and Attorney General Lynch praised Bureau staff across the Nation for their dedication and professionalism.
“Each and every day, the brave men and women of the BOP work around the clock to ensure that our correctional institutions operate effectively and efficiently,” Lynch said. “You make certain that the inmates stay secure and are treated fairly, with decency and respect. And you have long upheld the principle that those who have paid their debt to society deserve a meaningful second chance at a better life.”
