(BOP) - From October 3 - 5, 2017, Bureau of Prisons Director Mark S. Inch visited prisons and offices in the South Central Region. Accompanied by South Central Regional Director John Caraway, Director Inch made stops at the Regional Office, the Grand Prairie Office Complex, the Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) in Beaumont, TX and the Federal Detention Center (FDC) in Houston, TX. At FCC Beaumont, Director Inch was especially impressed with the Residential Drug Abuse Program and the Federal Prison Industries repatriation initiative that employs 150 inmates. Director Inch met hundreds of staff during his three day visit and provided valuable insights regarding the corrections profession and the role and responsibility of corrections professionals during staff recalls at FCC Beaumont and FDC Houston.
While in Texas, Director Inch visited "The Potter's House," one of the Nation's largest and fastest growing prison ministries and the provider for the Texas Offenders Reentry Initiative (T.O.R.I.). Since January 2005, T.O.R.I. has provided services to more than 10,000 formerly incarcerated male and female adults in Texas.
