Medical Records Technicians are responsible for performing analysis, coding, abstracting, and other day-to day activities in the Medical Records Department. They process requests for medical information, maintain a tracking system, and perform follow-up to assure acquisition of needed materials.

For consideration at the GS-05 level

Completion of a four-year degree above high school or with one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

For consideration at the GS-06 level

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
