Shane Salem
Shane Salem is the Assistant Director (AD) for the Correctional Programs Division (CPD). AD Salem began his career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons as a Correctional Officer at FCC Terre Haute (IN) in May 2005. He served in positions of increasing responsibility, including Senior Officer Specialist at FCC Pollock (LA); Lieutenant at FCI Greenville (IL), FMC Rochester (MN), and USP Leavenworth (KS); Deputy Captain at FCI Beaumont Low (TX); Captain at USP Beaumont; Associate Warden at FCI Edgefield (SC) and USP Coleman 1 (FL), and Warden at FCI Coleman Medium. In February 2023, Mr. Salem was promoted to Senior Deputy Assistant Director for the Correctional Programs Division in Central Office. In June 2024, he was appointed Acting Assistant Director and Mr. Salem was officially selected for the position in October 2024.
As Assistant Director for CPD, Mr. Salem is responsible for a wide variety of areas, including designations and sentence computation, the Witness Security and Victim-Witness Programs, security and emergency planning, offender transportation, the Sex Offender Certification Review Branch, and unit and case management operations. He also directs the agency's intelligence efforts through coordination with law enforcement agencies around the country.
Prior to joining the Bureau, Shane Salem served eight years with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. He was appointed to the Senior Executive Service in March 2023.
